Fire lapping Procedure using KG-2
- Clean Gun Using KG -1 and 2 using recommended instructions. Be sure that all the copper and lead build up is removed as the success/quality of the Fire Lapping Procedure is reliant on a clean bore.
- Go back with an under size brush (30 cal. Use a 6 to 7 mil) with a patch rapped around the brush. Apply KG-2 and coat the bore with a light coating of KG-2 (note that you do not want to get a lot of oil in the bore at this point. More is not better.
- Fire 10 rounds.
- Clean as in number 1.
- Re-coat as in number 2.
- Fire 10 rounds
- Clean
- Follow last cleaning with wet patch of KG-4 Gun Oil or other good oil. (Note the key to a good oil is its ability to preserve and protect.)
If Bore is extremely pitted results may be questionable. However, this procedure will "smooth" out the edges of the pitting.
If Throat Erosion is present to a significant degree results will be questionable.
Pressure changes will occur during this process and there is no guarantee of trueness, until after the Fire Lapping Procedure has been completed.
